Homegrown Tejano star stops for a visit

Megan Leyva

Tejano singer Megan Leyva talks Friday to students at Frostick Elementary School in Croswell about her music career during the school's career day event. Leyva, a native of Croswell, began her music career when she was 13. She was the 2003 winner of the Rising Female Star award at the Tejano Music Awards, and in 2007 she earned four Tejano Music Awards Top 5 nominations for her album "Siempre Para Ti."

Leyva lives in San Antonio, Texas, where she is focusing on her music career.

Now this is what I am talking about!!!!

Our Artists need to reach out to the youth! The future listeners of TEJANO... If we don't make it popular to the kids, then we will eventually go bye bye. I hope to see other groups approach the youth and begin to market to them.

Thanks,
