The Johnny Ramirez Morning Show had Emilio's kids in the studio with him and according to them, Emilio Navaira has opened his eyes and was "squeezing hands" of family members, although heavily medicated. He took his second surgery as well as could be expected. The doctors in the hospital have upgraded his condition and have stated that he is now day to day, instead of hour to hour. Emilio's kids told stories of their dad and uncle Raulito.
An e-mail was read on the air as well, from a listener:
"Dear Johnny Ramirez, I was watching CMT this morning and they reported on Emilio's crash and his status. They spoke with Alan Jackson, George Strait and Garth Brooks. Alan Jackson & George Strait both said that they spoke with Emilio from time to time and new him personally. Garth Brooks said that he had the potential, if he wanted to, to do big, big, big things in Country Music. Garth Brooks also went on to say that he helped Emilio with song writers that were used for the country albums that he recorded. I am just proud to say that Emilio and Tejano music in general was recognized by CMT."
