Accordian Legend Ruben Vela dies

rv12Conjunto legend Ruben Vela’s career stretched from his boyhood in dusty South Texas dance halls to the days of the powermix and the music video. The accordion mastery that kept people dancing for more than half a century has been forever silenced. Vela, died this evening. He was 72 years old. Throughout the years Ruben Vela’s music has touched the hearts and souls of Tejano Fans around the world. In 1983 he was honored for these outstanding contributions to the world of Conjunto Music and was inducted into the Conjunto Hall of Fame.  Our Condolences go to his family and friends from all of us here at ITejano.com.     I use to go to Ruben Vela dances in Pharr when I was a teenager I’m 68 now.Recently my wife and I would go to the Conjunto Festival in San Antonio to see Ruben Vela.He will be missed by his zillons of fans.My condolences to his family.Ruben R.I.P.

    Que pas descanse “El Numberr One”" de la musica de conjunto. Se nos fue otra gran leyenda. He will be greatly missed by his legions of fans and has left us alot of great memories and music to listen to and to pass onto another generation..
