Tejano Day is one of the most popular days of the rodeo every year and this year was no different. A record-breaking 74,222 fans attended the concert on Sunday. People came out not only to see the performers but to celebrate Hispanic culture.
You can definitely have a good time at the rodeo.
“We come to the rodeo especially for Tejano Day,” said Marisela Ramirez.
Adrian and Marisela Ramirez look forward to it every year. They come to support their roots and keep their Hispanic Culture alive.
“Tejano Day has always been a day to come out and spend with the family and celebrate your Texas-Mexican roots,” said Adrian Ramirez.
In the past, Tejano Day has been a favorite among protestors. Boycotting the event for not having Tejano singers and outcasting Norteño groups like, Indeciso.
This year, no protestors in sight. Group member of Indeciso, Cruz Resendez belives Tejano day is changing. It’s no longer about one genre of music but about the celebration of the Hispanic culture.
“Whether (it’s) Norteño from Mexico or Conjunto or Tejano its more of a conglomorate of music together,” said Resendez.
It’s the music that brings a very diverse audience to the rodeo on Tejano Day.
“All kinds of people I mean you name the race it’s here and it’s about,” said Ramirez.

Why the farce? why do they insist on calling this event “Go Tejano Day” and then not have a Tejano group in their roster, this is a slap in the face toward Tejanos and their families, would you call a wienner inside a bun a TACO?This is as bad as the show Univision had for Selena,If we didn’t know any better, everyone that watch that show would think Selena was born in mexico instead of Texas,You don’t have be a rocket scientist to figure out that politicians especially the democrats and the Chamber Of Commerce in this country will go out of their way to please mexico and it’s people, but they don’t have to do it by forgetting to represent the millions of Tejanos that have lived, worked and died for this country
