Javier Galvan says Goodbye to FAMA

Longtime Tex-Mex singer-songwriter Javier Galvan says he’s ready to take the next step. And yes, that means going beyond his group Fama, after more than 24 years.
“The reason I am leaving is to pursue ministry,” Galvan said Tuesday (9/15). “I feel like I put in 24 years with Fama and now I feel the tugging. That God is tugging me to pursue a fulltime ministry.”
Galvan said his ministry is non-denominational.
“We’ll minister across the board, to Catholics, Baptists, Pentecostals, anyone.”
And of course, music will factor in his ministry.

SEGUIN —The First Baptist Church and Impact Seguin is inviting the town out for a day of fun for the whole family.
For the second year, the congregation is hosting Tejano Family Festival 2009 on Saturday, Sept. 19 in Central Park along side the Pontiac Classic Car Show.
Lupe Gonzales, event coordinator said the musical event got started last year because after many years of playing at festivals — while a part of a music group — and he rarely saw one that was family friendly.

This year’s Diez y Seis de Septiembre events will mix a combination of art, culture, music and of course, Mexican food, to showcase the Latino culture in celebration of Mexico’s Independence from Spain.
Diez y Seis marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, which lasts through Oct. 15. Opening the month will be of a student art showcase at the University of Houston – Victoria on Sept. 16 with Hispanic culture as the theme.
