If you are a fan of Wikipedia you might be slightly confused on the actual history of Tejano Music and how it was actually established.  Since it is edited by various sources and can be manipulated or altered by anyone and everyone, even non-historians it’s material is sometimes incorrect or confused.
Just to give you a basic example Tejano Music didn’t just magically become named “Tejano Music” and it wasn’t first named Tex-Mex in the 50’s.

Having interviewed Mr. Robledo of the Premios Texas, I have come to a great conclusion that this year will be a great show.  Not only does Premios Texas have a Tejano Category, but they also support the artists and push for them to get exposure.  Performing again this year will be “Bobby Pulido” (Quick tidbit – last year “Bobby Pulido” performed live at the Awards show and was backed up by the New Urban Cumbia Group “Cinco Doce” [5-12].)   …

The Texmaniacs have taken Tejano/Conjunto Music to another level! With some of the good sounds of  Max Baca on the bajo sexto and David Farias on the accordian, They are what being Tejano is all about! I saw these guys perform in March at the TTMA Fan Fair and the energy was incredible. Tejano Music Awards Winners 2009
Some of the awards were already a given, not unlike years past. For Example everybody knew Jay Perez was gonna win Male Vocalist, everybody knew Jimmy Gonzalez y Mazz, Elida Reyna, and Ruben Ramos were gonna win their respective categories. I think the biggest thing was the winners of the “New Artist” awards, Eddie Guerrero, Monica Castro, and Grupo Sueno. Univision proudly announced the 5th annual “Premios Texas 2009,” a Latin music awards celebration showcasing some to the most recognized artists in the industry.
