Premios Texas 2009

Univision proudly announced the 5th annual “Premios Texas 2009,” a Latin music awards celebration showcasing some to the most recognized artists in the industry. The gala event will take place live from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Center for Performing Arts in Austin, TX on Thursday, August 13, from 6:00 pm Central, followed by the broadcast of the “Best of Premios Texas 2009″on Saturday, August 22, throughout Univision stations in the state of Texas.
The “Premios Texas” bestow awards annually to the winners from the six most popular Latin music genres including – Tejano, Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock and Urban – as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award, given to a performer who, during their lifetime, has made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to Latin music. Among the nominees are two-time Grammy Award and three-time Latin GRAMMY winning Merengue and Latin Pop artist Olga Tañón, Panamanian reggaeton performer Makano, who debuted on Billboards #1 Hot Latin Song with “Te Amo”, influential Mexican American norteño band Los Rieleros Del Norte, Latin GRAMMY’S, Entertainer of the Year for Best Group, Tejano star Bobby Pulido, number one on Billboard’s regional Mexican charts K-Paz de la Sierra, and local Austin Latin rock band Vallejo.
At last years event, over 5,000 spectators throughout Texas and beyond filled the Long Center venue to experience live performances by some of their favorite artists. This year’s event is expected to reach a larger audience with an anticipated performance by some of the biggest names in local, national and international Latin Music.
