Well surprise, surprise… The Convention was great. Even with a reduced amount of turn out since previous years, the Tejano Music National Convention in my eyes was a great success. Not only did it hold steadfast and contain a lot of great exposure for new and upcoming bands but it provided industry people a place to discuss the future. Throughout the years the Tejano
Industry has been in turmoil due to the lack of support by the larger Latin Music industry but also by the lack of support by major media conglomerates.

This year fortunately a few young aspiring Tejano’s seemed to light a fire in the industry. TAP (Ramon Sustaita Jr. ) brother of Veronica Sustaita (from Veronica y Avance) spoke up against the grain to voice the need for increased exposure to the new generation of Tejano’s to music events, awards, and festivals.
We here at iTejano mimic his voice in the belief that if new blood isn’t infused in to the industry our fan base will continue to age and never be replenished. By providing guidance and support to the new generation of Tejano’s you not only spur new life in to the industry, but you bring in new fans in to the industry.
For far too long the Tejano Music Industry has been dominated by a few major players, it’s time to expand upon our market share and reach the youth and adults of the future.
I personally applaud the young leaders of the future and I pray that the rulers of the past heed the youths cry for change, for if they don’t the sleeping giant will slumber and fall in to a coma and never wake up.
